Magnificent Manuscripts

Christopher de Hamel, manuscript historian at Cambridge University,   has written a, so to speak, biography of 12 of the worlds greatest illuminated manuscripts. He records the “lives” of each of them, as they have been created, given, stolen or purchased and moved around the world. These are objects that over their 500+ years have reflected the times they moved through. These are objects that represent power, and how they move through society shows where the power ebbs and flows.
